*NEW THIS YEAR: Omaha Under the Radar will accept applications for sound installation works.
What do you mean by "performance?"
It isn't the goal for Omaha Under the Radar to define "performance,"
but for the sake of creating guidelines, performance will indicate live,
time-based artforms including, but not limited to:
Improvisation
Experimental/Avant-garde performance
Original and new works
Video Installation
Works for original and new instruments
Modern dance
Movement
Live poetry and text-based work
New theatre
Interdisciplinary performance
Contemporary classical music
Electronic media
Sound, media, and performance installation
Interractive work
Solo, duo, and group performance
How do you define "contemporary" and "experimental" in the context of this festival?
Preference will be given to brand new works, works created in the past 25 years, and rarely performed works of the past 50 years that have influenced living artists. We emphasize non-commerical and independently created work, and work that represents under-represented ideas and identities.
Can artists apply with pieces/programs longer than the 25 minute limit?
We want to give as many artists the opportunity to perform as possible, so we have placed a time limit of 25 minutes on all artist sets. You are welcome to apply with a longer set, but we will likely ask you to cut the program down to the allotted set length if your application is accepted.
Will you pay artist fees/travel?
Omaha Under the Radar offers an honorarium to each applicant that we invite to perform at the festival.
